First Steps

Introduction to Swedish Weaving

1 day workshop

Suitable for complete beginners

Swedish weaving or Huck embroidery was traditionally worked to create beautiful borders on table and bath linens and clothes such as aprons. Although it’s origins can be traced back as far as the 15th Century, it has a wonderfully contemporary quality and is perfect for creating decorative items from wall hangings and cushions to cards and small gifts.

In this introductory workshop you will learn some basic stitches and work a small band that can be made into a card, postcard, bookmark or needle case. You will also be shown how to vary the design and how it can be used to create larger pieces
